Friends (14)About Me
Human beings have always sought to express ideas about their identity and existence. I am particularly fascinated by how, in an increasingly globalised world, we seek to interpret our own identity by turning to the art forms of other civilizations and eras. I question whether all the original ideas have been used up or whether we live in a world where recognition gives us a sense of knowing or an experience that we long for.
Fashion is of particular interest to me, expressing ideas about the power of women in society, either creating an individual identity or reinforcing conformity. Clothing is a voice to liberalise woman’s ideas and my art work and experimentation with media reflects the diversity in women, their freedom of expression. I'm not a professional, I'm just an 18 year old with big dreams for the future, but I think there is real beauty in being able to capture the beauty of women and to be able to tell a story within your art work and this is what I try to do. I just want to put my work out there and get some feedback, for people to appreciate women and the power of clothing and fashion in defining a woman. I believe it is not the clothes that make an outfit but the woman wearing them and I have always been told that the most beautiful thing a woman can wear is her smile. Yves Saint Laurent said that the most beautiful clothes that can dress a woman are the arms of the man she loves, but for those who have not had the luck to find this happiness, I am there. I want to use my artwork to capture the diversity in women, their freedom and their femininity and power and even if nothing becomes of my art from this site at least I have had the opportunity to share this.
