About Me

Writing things like this feels a little like root canal to me. Left alone, I tend to ramble and wander off in strange directions. Maybe that’s because I’ve always looked at the world a little differently.

I think that started during a family car trip when I was a kid. My father looked out the window and casually said:
“That would be an odd place to hang a bicycle.”

I searched everywhere — high, low, near, far — and finally admitted I couldn’t find the bicycle.

“There is no bicycle,” he said.
“But THAT would be an odd place to hang one.”

Fifty-plus years later, I still look around and think:
“That would be an odd place to shoot a nude.”

Some people call what I do “Guerrilla Photography” because we often work quickly in unexpected places. At my age, though, it’s more like:
“Shoot… walk away slowly… then go back and get the camera bag I forgot.”

I think of my work as “Serendipitous Photography.”

I use natural existing light and try to create images that feel discovered rather than staged. The light, shadows, weather, textures, location, and objects all become part of the photograph — but the model is always the element that brings everything to life.

The most important part of my work is collaboration. The strongest images happen when the model and photographer create a shared vision together.

To all the amazing women I’ve had the great good fortune to work with over the years:
Thank you for helping create these images.
