I am a figurative watercolor painter always looking for interesting people to model for me. For me painting is a spiritual practice that offers both the meditative practice of painting itself and the possibility of understanding, in an especially rich way, the beauty of the world around me. Painting people is about understanding people--really seeing them in both their particularity (what it means for that person to have that personality, be that body and face) and their universality (all the ways that our beauty translates into the Platonic realm). Finally, I love the process of working with models: it's one of the richest and often most moving experiences I know.

All work with me is paid. I pay somewhat more than the going rate for art modeling, as I paint from photographs--modeling sessions tend toward photo shoots. I employ a model release that rigorously protects model privacy with respect to photos. I prefer to work with models that I know (usually working with friends or people I know in the art community where I live), so I hope to talk via email or otherwise with any interested models before work.
