Photography is about finding the perfect subject, the best lighting, the pose, the feeling, the combination of colours, moods and distinctive style that captures the exact image required. It is about capturing creativity while blending the needs of the client with the skill of the photographer.

"Since the very moment he used his first camera, he knew that this practical, yet inspiring instrument could allow him to carve out a career from something he loved. That career has taken many twists and turns, with his roles as Creative Director for a number of high profile companies soon leading to a career path that became exclusively photography.

Other roles focusing on Digital Design, Graphic Design and Art Direction has led him to a place where ideas are the mainstay of his photography. He sees so much more than just the subject – He can create a story or vision that depicts more than what we see. His bases in both London and Cape Town allow him to have two sides to his personality, while his worldwide travels give him a fresh perspective.

For Malcolm, the main focus of his photographic passions have been nature and people – especially the interaction between the two. His style relies heavily on realism: sharp, clear images that are both thoughtful and strong. He believes that we sometimes jar with the environment and will capture this feeling – the play between who we are and where we are.

His technical ability has been honed over many years and ensures that his work is complimented by the use of high end portable strobe lighting, Canon L Series lenses and of course, 35mm 1D and 5D cameras. He offers art direction and where necessary, will apply post-production techniques to suit his clients brand and thus creating the correct mood.

Malcolm works closely with animals and wildlife, creates beautiful headshots and portraits and of course, the commercial, advertising and editorial-based photography that suits his career background so well. As a fashion photographer, his work is natural and classic with a quirky side that truly captures the product and the person."
