About Me
We're always scouting for models (squidgrrls) for our cover. No nudity; just good fun. We pay in copies and TFCD. Our cover images are a distinctive addition to any portfolio - sweated over, composited, retouched, photoshopped endlessly.
We publish an irreverent, irrelevant scifi and humor 'zine in Austin. Texas A&M University inducted all of our issues into the Cushing Library Archives in 2011. We won a Best of Austin from the Chronicle in Fall 2008, and our special clay tablet edition got blogged about (twice) by WIRED Magazine. NEW: We might be casting for informal low-budget short films. These will be thought-provoking or humorous pieces that require a bit of acting chops and self-confidence, but not much script memorization. Let us know if you'd be interested. Also, we ordinarily do a "squidgrrl profile" on one interior page with a secondary photo and a series of funny questions. We expect our models to be somewhat familiar with sci-fi and willing to show up to our semi-annual launch parties/performances if they can. The 'zine: Snarky, outrageous stories, comix, art, and of course the Puzzle Fun Page. (Do not taunt Puzzle Fun Page.) Our featured contributors include Bruce Sterling (father of cyberpunk), Tony Millionaire (cartoonist, maakies.com, WSJ, New Yorker), and Jay Lake (2004 Campbell Award for Best New Writer). Our issues have sold out at several bookstores, including Book People, which is the Powell's Books of Austin. Verified Credits (0)Worked with Space Squid? Share your experience and become verified!
