ARTIST STATEMENT

My creative journey began in the traditional black-and-white darkroom. Following a period of profound personal and physical challenges, I returned to the camera lens as a deliberate path to restoration. I discovered that the manipulation of shadow and light possessed the power to return my spirit to a state of absolute serenity, purpose, and quietude.

My visual language is deeply informed by a childhood spent on the Great Lakes. While water itself is frequently present within the frames of my landscapes and seascapes, it is rarely present within the fine art nude frames; yet, its elemental ethos entirely governs the work—seen in the ebb and flow of coastal light, rich atmospheric depth, and the organic, sinuous grace of forms shaped by nature.

Within the quiet sanctuary of the studio, I isolate the sultry brilliance and subtle gradations of grey that define the monochrome medium, creating master-grade imagery that evokes an intense emotional response and commands the authority of a collectible work of art.

While my foundation remains rooted in master-grade monochrome photography, my highest tier of creative expression involves the creation of hand-pigmented variable prints. By manually applying raw pigment to archival surfaces, I ensure that each individual piece exists as a unique, non-replicable physical relic.

I am seeking select individuals to assist in launching a new series of hand-pigmented archival works.
