I am Jose Gomez Freelance—most people just call me JGF—a 35 mm analog photographer, passionate about Polaroid and chemical developing, and a retoucher who, after initially not adapting to the digital revolution and taking an intellectual hiatus to study, among other things, aesthetics and art history, spent the last two years retraining as a specialist in AI-assisted editing and creation techniques.

My work with real-life models ranges from mixed-media pieces, deep edits (background, wardrobe, accessories, poses, etc.), photomontages and collages, to assisting real and original photographs in order to drive AI projects in a thousand different ways (poses, style, clothing, faces, and much more), as well as creating virtual avatars or digital clones for influencers and models who want to lighten their workload for smaller projects or simply take a holiday without neglecting their social networks.

Another key area—where the art and creativity of named, professional models is essential—is building and updating high-quality, original, and responsible datasets for training and fine-tuning all kinds of generative models and LoRAs. When models so wish, they are properly credited as a fundamental part of these new creative tools; and more and more AI experts seek the flexibility and transparency of commissioning bespoke audiovisual material for their projects—making this the perfect showcase.

In short, AI is not going to take work away from traditional models; it can be an opportunity to ride the wave and work as a central part of this new revolution, with a future projection that is extremely promising for anyone who joins in.

[Much of my work has used photographs from my own archive, stock material, public-domain sources (not to mention all the synthetic and hybrid images I can create with AI and the countless times I’ve used myself as a model), and lately I’ve been raising the bar by working with models to obtain original photos and videos to build from.]
