About Me
In no particular order...
1. I am NOT a photographer. I consider myself an artist whose medium is photography. There's a subtle but important difference. 2. I live in Glens Falls NY at the base of the lovely Adirondack Mountains of Upstate NY. I'm primarily an on-location shooter & know a slew of locations throughout NYS but mostly in the east & north. Some of these are more feasible to use than others depending on the time of year & project but all are quite lovely, assuming you're the type that is willing AND able to go off-the-beaten path. 3. I don't make a dime off of anything I shoot. I create because I choose to, not becaue I "have to." Even so, I do try to conduct the process as professional as I can. 4. My work is apparently controversial enough to get my name in the papers. Hope you're as amused at this brouhaha as I am. ![]() http://poststar.com/news/local/nude-photos-prompt-library-review-of-exhibit-policy/article_8ce81f74-18e9-11e4-999e-0019bb2963f4.html 5. I'm a fan of light & shadow & completely blame double-majoring in Art History & Art Studio, two academic disciplines that are useless for today's job market. But I still wouldn't have it any other way. ![]() 6. Here is a version of the release I use: https://www.nppa.org/node/5131 Unless you're a blood relative, signing a release is mandatory. More than happy to make reasonable amendments. However, this issue REALLY need to be discussed in advance. 7. My subjects MUST be adventurous, willing to laugh at themselves, & not be particular about how they look. I am also fluent in sarcasm & a lover of self-deprecation. If you're not OK with any of this, working w/ me is probably not for you. 8. I am not interested in doing the same boring, tired, low-hanging sh*t that everyone else is doing. I'm interested in challenging myself & those who WANT to work with me in order to produce some great, memorable stuff we can be proud of for years to come. Or at least that's the hope anyways. 9. I believe in conducting my shoots under the K.I.S.S. principle. Don't know what it is? Again, ask. ![]() 10. I'm well aware cold calling is what it is but I prefer to have a vague idea as to the what we're shooting, what it's for, when, where, & how long BEFORE I even think about rates I'm paying. If this makes me "difficult during the booking stage," it's something I'll just have to live with. 11. I encourage questions & ideas. 12. If you're going to bring someone to the shoot, I need to know IN ADVANCE because I have guidelines that everyone needs to agree to simply so we're all on the same page. 13. Sometimes when I believe in a colleague's vision or when they're nice or when I'm bribed w/ free food & drink after a shoot, I play model for my photographer friends. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/tkq2z73j7ov8h9ohcm3si/stacyleigh002-web.jpg?rlkey=00d3lm6q2xs1gflvbyys582wd&st=qqdg0svi&dl=0 (Photo by Stacy Leigh) 14.Throwing together last minute shoots (defined as 7 days or less) is unlikely simply because of the planning & answering critical questions in a timely manner as well as commitments on my end. You're welcome to try in the hopes of getting lucky though. Just don't get mad if it doesn't. 15. W/ a few exceptions, I tend to go on a hiatus during the winter months. Its unreasonable to ask a model to get half-naked in the snow & freezing weather when I don't even want to be out there in full parka mode EVEN IF they claim to have ice water in their veins .16. "The shoot I had with Farenell Photography felt like an adventure. I am very happy with the way the images came out. We ended up having a problem with one dress and even those images are nice. He was very respectful. Because of the location he had a small broom with him so the model would not get injured from broken glass or whatever else may be in an unused building. We did not expect for people to be at our location so we did have to alter the shoot according to that as well. I recommend this photographer and hope to work with him again sometime." Read less

"Another great conservator, Matthew walked into a completely unknown location (my apartment) and was entirely open of all the possibilities, but it become one of those randomly awesome "wait- did we just never leave this wall for 2 hours!?" shoots that fly by!" Read less
