My company stands as an eponymous reflection of my past, experiences, and personal development:
Dedication is the motive. Living in Kansas City all my life, in a tough urban city depicted by cold dark violence, I made a promise to myself: to not be under any influence of a thing that could harm me or anybody in my family. One fateful day, I walked into a barber shop, and it happened....an epiphany. The owner of the shop, a photographer named Tony, gave me the insight of the creative world. Thus it began. Wedding Work I officially started in 2002 while in college out of the necessity of needing money to eat and live. Self-taught, I learned different angles and photographic genres that would allow me to stand out from the rest. In 2010, October to be exact, I did my first breast cancer shoot to remind women and men to get a check up. Folks around the area are still talking about it to this day, I've done over countless weddings and portfolios. I've even done some freelancing for club venues just to get by. My purpose in requesting my work display in the Art Institution is to inspire the next generation of photographers in this city. I feel the responsibility of letting them know there's always a good outcome within your dedication. Either going to school or schooling oneself, individuals can achieve so much more when working efficiently and focusing on the dedication necessary to achieve a dream.
