Makeda Culley, a NYC jewelry designer, is a first-generation American born in Brooklyn, NY to parents of Trinidad & Tobago. Her penchant for jewelry creation arrived early, about the age of 10, when lured to the art of jewelry design after making friendship bracelets during summer camp. She has since sought education to feed her voracity for the art and honed in to her own design sensibilities. Her abounding affection for jewelry creation has led to the founding of Makeda Culley New York, a collection of sophisticated handmade jewelry. Saturated with enthusiasm and a definitive vision, she continues her pursuit to learn and create a range of pieces as she perfects each design method. Her motivations fuel her quest to find her own distinguishable style while she relies on the promise of success attained through persistence. With each piece of handmade jewelry, she endeavors to build a recognizable brand defined by its refined quality, construction and aesthetic.

Currently, she majors in Marketing at SUNY Empire State College. She holds a degree in Studio Art and aims to venture into drawing, and ceramics.
