April 22, 2009 11:49am Both fine shots, but I think I like this one better. The short, corseted costume veers towards the (subtly and stylishly) provocative, and the boots are aggressive (though attractive), but the adorably jarring element in the combination is the bright blue eyeshadow, which I think goes very well with the sweetly distracted expression in this shot. Much as I do like the forward, sensual pose in the companion image, the pose in this one is much more open to interpretation: the posture of the legs suggests confidence and sensuality, but the closed stance of the arms and body suggests a protective, innocent quality. The dichotomy between sexual aggressiveness and innocence seems further enhanced by the frilly white blouse that aesthetically complements yet contrasts with the dark, aggressive components of the costume. An ambiguous, playful image with great style.
