April 01, 2011 7:19pm I like this...I tried my first shoot in a very old cemetery in the daytime. I wasn't very imaginative but I learned a lot about moving.
April 09, 2010 10:34pm I wonder, if this is the photog himself under the umbrella? I appreciate the artistic element, certainly, but I have this feelingâ¦that this model is not a close enough approximation to the real ghost (lover/family/friendâmy guess is a Lover, however the viewer seems older than the âghostâ soâ¦perhaps a Muse?) that is haunting this anonymous viewer (and the anonymity is well done, I might add). But I'd wager there is a real man ...who is haunted by a real 'ghost' ...from a not so distant past. Hence, the inspiration. Interesting, yes. Imitation worthy, certainly. Concept: executed. But the model's movement and expression is not quite⦠right. Had the roles been reversed, and had that woman ever stood in the rain⦠under a black umbrella⦠looking at a mausoleum, trying so desperately to recall a fading memory, she would have emoted something quite different. In short, this 'ghost' has never been hurt enough to have one.
And I wonder, whereâ¦.is the rain? When I look at the image I want to see the manâs trench coat dripping with it, the umbrella streaming. I want to see it running off the tombstones, pooling on the mausoleum steps. I want the rain to be his emotionâ¦drowning the earth as he feelsâ¦raining down indifferently on everything, and everyone.
