PanderJin - Pleione - Wife of titan Atlas and mother to Pleiades Constellation (7 Sisters) - finally finished this one recently since gallery wanted a female piece to include in the group eixhibition coming up. Mix of influences from atlas map neon colours, mother earth gaia, Metropolis movie metal lady robot, galaxy/space, minerals/metals/mining and topographical maps and symbols. Used iridescent paint to create a play with the light and pattern/texture like fabric surface. Body as an actual landscape, Art Nouveau organic motifs. Wanted to use the various shades of black and the black paper's natural colour to flesh out the body and hinted at flesh tones on the inanimate objects to tease at the feminine elements.
