Mostly retired after several years creating art in a photo studio. Currently developing my abilities in landscape/nature photography, and landscapes with nudes. My work tends to be in monochrome (Black & White), mostly a bias that began in the late 1960s, when I started processing my own film and prints.
My goal is to draw out a bit of the soul of the model in my work. To capture the essence of their life struggle, and, perhaps, infuse a bit of victory over their greatest roadblock. The model is as much the creator of the artwork as I am. They are asked to provide feedback, suggestions, opinions, and are all encouraged to stay after the session in order to play an integral part of the winnowing process. Creativity is a team process; an artistic partnership. A very recent health scare has made it abundantly clear: Life is but a very brief time on this Earthly plane. To truly be alive, one must be passionate about living. I am passionate about my work. I trust my subjects are at least as spirited as I am. I live for those fleeting occasions when model and photographer are in unspoken synchrony and the result is a new genre of art I've never made before. If you think we might work well together, then please peruse my online portfolio at https://robertpowellphotography.com In 2026, most creativity will occur outdoors in and around the heated pool, in Mequon, Wisconsin, and in a "new to me", small, creative studio space in the Walker's Point neighborhood of Milwaukee.
