Looking Ahead to 2026
As I move into 2026, I have been thinking deeply about where I want my work to go and what I hope to achieve in the year ahead. I want this to be a year of renewed visibility, artistic growth, and deeper exploration across both painting and photography. My focus is on exhibiting new work while also revisiting selected older pieces that still feel essential to my journey as an artist. In painting, I am beginning to move away from strict realism and into a new body of work titled 15 Dimensions of the Feminine. This series will consist of fifteen portraits of women from around the world, each depicted in traditional costume and enriched with symbolism. Through this project, I hope to explore beauty, identity, culture, and the many layers of femininity through a more interpretive and expressive visual language. It marks an important shift for me, not only in subject matter, but also in the way I want painting to communicate emotionally and symbolically. In my fine art photography, I am continuing to develop five distinct series, each reflecting a different side of my creative vision. Alone in the City, which has been ongoing since 2020, remains one of the most important parts of my photographic work. It explores the emotional solitude of modern urban life through images of women living within the private spaces of the city. These photographs reflect loneliness, heartbreak, independence, and the quiet emotional weight that can accompany lives shaped by ambition, self-reliance, and the complexities of modern love. The Classical Figure, a series I began in 2024, explores the female form through a Renaissance-inspired aesthetic. With this work, I use photography to echo the timeless beauty, composition, and atmosphere of classical oil painting, creating images that feel both historical and contemporary. Another series now taking shape is Polaroid Elegy, which I began this year. This project is dedicated to the beauty of the Polaroid image itself, embracing its softness, nostalgia, grain, and imperfection while transforming that visual language into fine art. I am especially excited by the emotional quality of this medium and the way its fragility can deepen the feeling of an image. The fourth and fifth series I am developing are Cities in Monochrome and Cities in Color. These works document cities from around the world, each with its own visual poetry, history, and emotional atmosphere. Through these series, I hope to interpret urban life in two very different but complementary ways, one through the timeless restraint of black and white, and the other through the expressive power of color. As for Art Untangled, my YouTube show, I have decided to step away from it for now. The series requires a great deal of time and energy to produce, and at this point I want to direct that energy more fully into creating new work. It is possible that I may return to it in the future, but for now it will remain on pause. One thing I am happy to say with certainty is that my artist blog will continue this year after roughly a year away from writing. Returning to the blog feels important to me. It gives me a space to share not only finished work, but also the ideas, inspirations, and artistic direction behind what I create. In many ways, writing is another part of the work itself. It allows me to reflect, to connect, and to invite others more deeply into my creative world. Above all, I hope 2026 will be a year of serious artistic progress, deeper expression, and meaningful connection with those who follow my work. Thank you for being here, and thank you for continuing to support my journey. Verified Credits (2)Worked with Marco Alex Fine Art? Share your experience and become verified!
