About Me
Thanks very much for stopping by. My name is Amanda Griffin and I'm a professional photographer experienced in shooting a variety of genres including modeling portfolio development, editorial, products, portraiture, fine art figurative, and abstract work. I've exhibited in galleries around Colorado (Denver, Golden, Boulder), New York City, San Francisco, and most recently in Miami as part of Art Basel Week. My work has also been published in fine art photography collections and numerous trade publications, as well as promotional materials for clients.
I've taken a bit of an hiatus from my art the past couple of years (pretty much only doing private portraiture) but I'm ready to jump back in and get some of my own art projects going again. One body of work in particular that I'll be working on in the coming months is my Goddesses and Sirens Series that will eventually become a fine art photography book. So I'll be recruiting models for that soon. Additionally I'm always interested in collaborating with others. If you are interested in working together please contact me via email (amanda@griffimages.com) or phone (303.905.6114). Please do NOT contact me for paid work. In that instance I always select from models with whom I have worked previously and have established a good rapport. As a photographer and designer, I enjoy showcasing the unique quality and beauty of my subject, creating a visual memory, and turning it into art. I picked up my first SLR more than 35 years ago and for the past 20 years have incorporated photography into my marketing and communications work. My formal education is in visual communications, including photography coursework. For me, photography began as an interesting past time and an ability I could add to my marketing repertoire. About 10 years ago it evolved into a deep passion when I began photographing people (in particular, the human form) and abstracts. I discovered my own fascination with the play of light and shadow — the power it has to evoke strong feelings. I realized that I have a gift for photographically capturing a moment of emotion, as well as the unique character of my subject. I truly enjoy freezing a moment in time with an image that expresses something about life, love, passion, adventure, sensuality, and the human spirit. I strive to create images that have a voice and compel one to think and feel something beyond an appreciation for just another pretty picture or portrait.
