September 11, 2006 7:27pm With nudes, there always seems to be a lot of levels operating at once. Two that usually spring to mind with me are the sort of geometric (architectural?) aesthetic of the lines and shapes, and the beauty of the body. This really attacks both those amazingly. Between the steps behind her, the shadows on top or her, the pose, and the body...this is one to look at for a long time on a leisurely sunday.
And...I don't know why, but something about the lighting screams "1940s" to me.
September 04, 2006 12:05am You never let on to me about your work as a photogragher Andrew. And why you didn't is beyond me, as with such a strong surrealist image as this, you'd make Lee Miller or Man Ray proud.
